Weekly Update #4

Big update this week!

Things added:

  1. New characters! Now you can play as "D6", "D4" and "Loaded Dice". D4 gets 2 turns but a max roll of 4. While the Loaded Dice only lands on 2 and 6 but has 1 less health.
  2. New weapons! You can now use a revolver, shotgun or Poison Grenade Launcher.
  3. Purchasable character select. Each added weapon/character is purchasable for varying amounts of money.
  4. Poison ability tree. This new tree allows for poison bullets and poison trails. It also increased damage and size of poison abilities. This adds a whole new style of playing that I think you'll find interesting.
  5. General bug fixes. XP now moves more "fancy" and some particle updates. Bullets now look more bright and simple. They stand out more. Some updates to enemy spawning and health.
  6. You no longer reload when rolling over enemies. I felt this was unintuitive. If you guys like the new or older version let me know. For now I think reloading when you run out of bullets is equally as difficult and simplifies the game even more. Of course too simple is boring, but I think it was a necessary change.

What's planned for the next update?:

  1. Bosses! They will be much tougher than normal enemies and require strategic planning. I plan on adding a charging beetle and a dragonfly.
  2. More enemies! Explosive fireflies and mosquitos are my current planned additions and maybe more.
  3. Longer survive time. With new added enemies, there will be a much longer playtime and the game will get significantly more difficult.
  4. More maps and story. I'd like the player to progressively go through harder and harder maps that are much more unique and complex. Eventually I'd like to turn this into a more traditional and unique roguelike as well.
  5. Destructible environment with temporary upgrades and effects. I think this will add a lot more variety and I already have some of this added.
  6. General changes and balancing.
  7. Beginning trailer and animation. Youtube videos of gameplay and trailer?

Let me know what you think of this all and if you like where this is going, join the discord and let me know what other things you'd like added/changed. ;)
